Opinion: Utah GOP leaders must refocus on serving the public, not themselves

When did the most important job in politics become protecting one’s power and reelection? It’s time for our elected officials to get back to representing the ideals of our great state.

I live in Draper, Utah. As a young adult, I studied political science and music at BYU. After a church mission to Germany, I moved to Washington, DC, where I worked as a legislative aide in the US Senate. After 11 years of experience, I transitioned to being a full-time parent, dedicating my time to raising my 4 children while continuing to serve our community.

Currently, I volunteer on a local PTA Board of Directors and sit on the Junior High School Community Council. I follow local and national politics and have served as a Republican State and County delegate as well as in my neighborhood precinct leadership. I am a passionate advocate for fiscal responsibility and the values that make America strong. After watching our deficit spending reach new heights during and after the Covid Pandemic, I was moved to action. In 2024 I ran in the Republican Primary as a candidate to represent Utah's 3rd District in Congress. I believe that our state and federal governments should operate with the same financial prudence and budgeting discipline as our families do. This belief drives my commitment to supporting a government that is accountable and operates within its means.

I love to be outside exploring our beautiful state and especially enjoy hiking and running. Other hobbies include budgeting, enjoying all types of music, traveling and playing bingo with my family on Sunday nights.
